Decisions.. decisions..

Throughout a person's life, one has to make many decisions. Decisions that could change their future forever or decisions that are insignificant.

Today I had to make a decision that would change my future forever. I decided to end the relationship that I was in for more than two years.

It breaks my heart that I had to do this, but I believe it was a wise decision to make.

I wish him all the best in his life.
I wish him joy and health.
And most importantly I hope he will continue to walk in the Lord's way all the days of his life.

I pray that God will bring comfort to both of us right now.

A sad dream

I know it has been a while since I last posted something up and I think this will continue as the years go by. But today is an exception, because I had a dream last night. I had a dream...

The dream remains clear to me even after I have woken up because it was a dream that brought sadness to my heart. Now that I think about it, it was a dream that I could control... sort of.

The dream started something along the lines of this....
In the setting of Ancient China there was a girl named Mei (it means beautiful), she was around the age of 16 or 17. She grew up in a small city raised by her father as her mother died giving birth to her. She knew she was special because everyone treated her differently. Ever since she could remember, the people of the city would come to her with prayers and requests. All she had to do was smile and nod and the people would leave in peace. Apart from that, she also knew she can fly, but her father had always forbidden her to do so. In her household, other than her dad and herself they lived with a young lady. Mei had always addressed her as her older sister until about the age of 10 when Mei's father strictly commanded her to address the lady with her name because the lady was just a servant of the house.

Because of her strict father, she never went out of the house alone. She has only met a few people her age. But one day, under the supervision of her father/servant (I couldn't remember, but it is most likely the servant) she went out to the beach to enjoy the fresh air and scenery. There she encountered three young men. When the young men saw Mei they were awestruck by her beauty. But being the young men as they were, they were mischievous and played pranks on Mei because they did not know who she was. (The pranks were not that clear in my memory, but it was something to do with complimenting her and then complimenting another young lady that was at the beach, making Mei furious. I know that sounded a bit shallow, but the young men did it in a way that was demeaning to her.) Mei being furious by their pranks left the beach and went home.

The next day, little did she know, her father invited three young men to their house. And these young men were the very ones that she met on the beach. The father invited them to the house because they were the sons of respectful leaders of the city and they were the eligible bachelors for Mei. Immediately after Mei met them, she left without addressing them because she was still furious at them. The three young men after realising who they mocked the day before became embarrassed and felt remorse.

Mei's father became angry at Mei for the way she treated the young men and commanded her to spend time with the young men. Because Mei had to obey her father, she did what was commanded of her. When Mei and the young men met again, the young men treated her with great respect. Of the three young men, only one (we shall call him Rin. In my dream he did not have a name at all.) was brave enough to befriend Mei. The four of them spent time by exploring the city, taking Mei to the markets and the mountains (and all the other beautiful scenes that you can imagine in Ancient China). It took Mei a few days of exploring to gradually forgive what they had done to her.

On one day, the four of them went to explore the bamboo forest. The forest was so full of bamboo that it was all they could see for miles. The bamboos were also very tall, and their leaves would cover a lot of the sunlight. Because of that the forest was always foggy and majestic. Rin was a very intelligent young man, and he had invented a machine that can send him flying up into the sky and landing back safely. Rin had always conducted his trials at the bamboo forest, because his goal was to fly high enough to see the the top of the bamboo leafs and to see the sky above the forest.

The other two young men had always teased Rin for his invention because they always believed that humans cant fly and they wanted nothing to do with his machine. While they were exploring the forest, they came to the site of Rin's experiment. Rin invited Mei to join him in the flight, but Mei was hesitant because her father had always forbidden her to fly. But without warning, Rin grabbed Mei around her waist and up they flew into the sky.

At first Mei was terrified by the sudden move, but then she started to enjoy the scene and the bamboo leafs brushing on her face as they fly upwards. A few moments later, they reached the top of the bamboo trees. It was a scene a peace and calm as the sunlight shone on their face and there was a stillness around them. For a second Mei looked at Rin, who was holding her by the waist in front of him, and she found him staring at her. They became embarrassed and before they knew it, they were back on the ground again.

As the days went by, Mei and Rin grew closer and closer together. The complexion of Mei's body also started to grow brighter and brighter. As Mei's father began to notice Mei's changes, he became sad because Mei reminded him more and more of Mei's mother.

On a full moon night, Rin decided to take Mei back to the bamboo forest. He wanted to show her the beauty of the moon as they fly up into the dark sky above the forest. Once again, Rin grabbed Mei's waist and they flew up towards the sky. Once they reached the clearing above the bamboo forest, Mei knew she had fallen in love for Rin. On the way down to the ground, Rin's machine started to fail and they were falling in a great speed. Rin became fearful for Mei's life and so he changed the position of the fall so that Mei would land on him, to increase her chance of surviving (they were flying upwards in a vertical position, so Rin changed it so that they were falling in a horizontal way, I dont think in real life you can control they way you fall.).

Mei being full of love for Rin, did not want him to die. Mei started using the power that she knew she had in her, and she embraced Rin. While she was using her power, her body started to glow fiercely and their fall became slower and slower until they stopped in mid-air. Rin was so surprised he became speechless. Mei became delighted at what happened and together they flew up into the sky. Instead of just flying upwards, Mei and Rin flew around in dancing motion, and the light surrounding Mei danced around her as well.

They laughed and had a great time while they danced in the full moon sky. They confessed their love to each other. While neither of them wanted the night to end, Rin decided to ask Mei to marry him. To the delight of Rin, Mei agreed to it and they decided to marry straight away. Together they flew into town (it was late at night so most people were asleep) to the house of a priest (I don't know how the Chinese marriage works, but I just remember there was a person in my dream that conducted their marriage.) and woke him up. The priest seeing who they were agreed and married them in his house.

After the marriage they went away into a remote area near the beach. Rin knew there was an abandoned house because he has explored it before. At the abandoned house, Rin and Mei consummated their marriage. After that Rin fell into a deep sleep. Mei was able to fall asleep as well but something was happening inside her body. Just before the sun rises Mei woke up to an intense pain from the lower part of her body. She looked down and realised that she was about to give birth. In her great pain she tried to wake Rin up but he was in a deep sleep. Mei then went through the birth process on her own and she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Mei was very confused at what had happened but she loved her daughter regardless. She wrapped the baby in one of the robes she was wearing and placed her next to Rin.

Then suddenly a great light appeared before Mei and she became terrified. From the light, a woman appeared and reached out to Mei. When Mei saw her face, she knew straight away that she was her mother. Her mother had come to take Mei away into a different place. Mei, realising what was happening, refused to go with her. Mei did not want to leave Rin or her daughter behind. Mei's mother, knowing her pain, explained to her that this was their fate. Suddenly behind Mei's mother appeared a multitude of women. They were all beautiful and they were all wearing white robes with streaks of colour, their faces however showed their pain that was the same as what Mei was going through.

Mei's mother explained that they are all incarnation of a goddess. A long time ago a goddess fell in love with a man. When they married and consummated their marriage, the goddess gave birth to a daughter and all the goddess' power was given to the baby. The goddess died and disappeared and hence started the curse. The man was left to caring for the child and when the child grew up, she also fell in love with a man and the cycle continues. Mei, full of sorrow, felt great pain in her heart and tears started to flow.

A great wind appeared and started shaking the abandoned house. Rin woke up from the wind and saw a baby girl wrapped in Mei's robe next to him. Rin picked up the baby and went to look for Mei. After failing to find her at the house, he went out to look for her. When he couldn't find her anywhere, he ran to Mei's house and found Mei's father waiting for him.

Mei's father then told Rin that the child he was carrying was Mei and Rin's daughter. And that Mei had died giving birth to her. When Rin asked how he knew, he said he saw the great light from the beach and knew that his daughter, Mei, had died. Rin went down on his knees, while carrying his daughter, and cried.

I then woke up from the dream feeling teary. I don't know why I dreamed such a sad story.

I think this lovely song fits with my dream very well.
